Dentistry and 3D printing
In recent years, dentistry has witnessed a remarkable technological advancement that has transformed the way several dental procedures are conducted.
3D printing is a process of creating three-dimensional objects layer by layer from a digital design. In dentistry, this technology is harnessed to create dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, orthodontic devices and surgical guides. The precision of 3D printing enables dentists to provide tailored solutions that perfectly fit each patient's unique oral structure.
Rob has been using 3D printing for several years, using a system onsite to create surgical guides for the placement of implants. Our dental nurse Courtney is also trained in operating the printer. Various digital dentistry techniques are used, including intra-oral scans and design software to create the programme for each custom-made guide.
