Do you skip brushing your teeth?
How do your dental habits compare to the latest set of published statistics produced by the Oral Health Foundation (OHF)? More than half (54%) of the adult population admit to skipping toothbrushing at least once per week according to their research. One in six (16%) participants also said they skip toothbrushing at least three times per week.
The Oral Health Foundation described these findings as extremely troubling: “Skipping brushing sessions, especially on a regular basis, significantly increases the risk of plaque build-up, which is the primary cause of tooth decay and gum disease. This can lead to painful and costly dental issues if left unchecked.”
The charity concluded: “We urge everyone to prioritise brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, using interdental brushes daily, and attending regular dental check-ups. These simple yet essential practices can prevent a host of oral health issues and contribute to a brighter, healthier smile.”
